Lyle Kaza
Leader of the Rezan Merchant's Guild
In the wake of Magic Emperor Ghaleon's attacks, the old Thieves' Guild put themselves in a position
to take over a good deal of the shattered trade routes. Legitimate business soon became more profitable
than pilfering, stealing, and robbery. The people of Lunar needed goods, the Thieves Guild had them and
sold them (at fair but high prices, of course).
Over the intervening years, the Thieves Guild became the Rezan Merchant's Guild. Absorbed into the
new umbrella organization was a great deal of the government functions. With the exception of Nanza,
Reza is both the trade and political capital of the eastern world.
And riding herd over it all is one man, Lyle Kaza. His shrewd business skills, combined with the
ruthlessness of a former thief, plus none too little charm and charisma placed him as an obvious choice
for leadership after the fall of Magic Emperor Ghaleon. A good deal of the Theives Guild's original
progress was on account of his wheeling and dealing. His trade federation extends as far as Meribia, in
Katarina Zone.
Of course, it was in Meribia that he met Cassandra, one of our heroes. Enamoured with the busty,
blonde barmaid, he made numerous passes at her each time he visted the city. She not-so-politely rebuked
him each and every time. Of course, when you're the ruler of the world as you know it, you don't take
rejection easily. On his most recent trip to Meribia, prior to the current war, he proposed marriage.
When she refused, he gave up. She was either sincerely not interested, or playing impossible-to-get.
After the destruction of Meribia, Althena's Shrine, and Reachdeep, Lyle found Cassandra back within
his reach in the city of Iluk. As it would turn out, she was much more interested in his Merchant's
Guild companion, Lamont. After a crazy trip through a technomagical wonderland, Cassandra left with her
friends, taking Lamont with her and leaving Lyle behind.
That doesn't mean he won't stop trying...
