Long before Hiro ever met Lucia... Long before Alex ever dreamed of becoming a Dragonmaster, the
ancestors of Lunar lived upon the Blue Star. As you know, the Blue Star was corrupted by a
near-omnipotent force of evil, and the Goddess Althena sought to save what little she could of humanity
by transforming Lunar into a fertile, habitable world.
Sealing the evil away, Althena left behind watchers, like Lucia, who would awaken when the Blue Star
was once more capable of supporting life. She also left behind guardians, like the dragons. White, Blue,
Black, and Red. But there was one more, a watcher of slightly different origin.
The Star Dragon would not recognizably play a very prominent role in things until nearly a quarter
century after Alex's fantastic adventure. Recognizably being the key word.
With the unleashing of powerful forces during Althena's enslavement, Alex's ascension to
Dragonmaster, and his climactic battle with the Magic Emperor, the life-giving energies that supported
the world were dramatically changed. In a far off-land, further north and further to the east, beyond
the Frontier, and the very edge of the known world lay a land that would remain locked in ice for
another three-hundred years.
As the battle between good and evil raged a thousand miles away, the Star Dragon stirred from it's
icy slumber for only the second time since Lunar's creation. Rivaling the power of the Goddess Althena
herself, the Star Dragon thought itself near-invincible. Freed from it's glacial prison and once again
new to the concept of living, and mortality, the Star Dragon donned the form of a young girl, and set
across the currently undiscovered lands of the east.
For a very long time, the avatar-girl spent her life traversing mighty glaciers a mile or more in
height. Crossing into the known land, into a place known as The Frontier, a place stripped barren
millennia ago by the same glaciers she had just crossed. Her massive power spent preserving her new,
tiny frame, her reason for even beginning the journey, and even who, or rather what she was had vanished
in the crossing.
Rescued from the treacherous maw of an enemy, the girl found herself at the mercy of a kind stranger
who's name he did not share. When asked what her name was, the girl could not reply. Many years did the
girl, not knowing about her true abilities, spend with the man, learning a variety of skills, reading,
writing, magic and swordplay. Growing up a jack of all trades somewhat, the man, more like a father to
the girl now, called her Miriamele, or "Miri".
Grown up to be a self-sufficient, independent tomboy, the unsuspecting avatar and her teacher parted
ways when she decided to explore the land on the other side of the Nanza Barrier, into what was (at the
time) the heart of the world, full of wondrous places like Meribia and Vane.
Stripped of her memories, she's not aware of her past as the Guardian of the Blue Star. Right now,
she's more interested in seeing the world rather than finding out about her past. In fact, since being
found in the Frontier, Miri has devoted little thought to seeking her previous identity.
She's just never really stopped to think about it before...
