  • Floating Magic City of Vane

    [Storyteller] We last left the party down in the bowels of the Magic City of Vane, in the Trial Cave. The party made their way out of the cave where they were greated by the Nash, Mia, and Lalaith Ausa.

    Nash formally inducted Lynna into the Magic Guild with the rank of Master... The rest of you were lead back to the Magic Guild Mansion to freshen up and have any damaged gear repaired.

    Lamont's Room, Magic Guild Mansion

    [Storyteller] There's a knock at the door.

    LOG DAMAGED

    [Dayanara] You've got eyes. Does anybody else look like me?
    [Lamont] ... Well, I am a polite person, Miss Dayanara.
    [Dayanara] Yeah, I suppose that has it's up side. I hear you were decent with your sword down there.
    [Lamont] Perhaps... it was the first time I've used one in a long time.
    [Dayanara] But you're not good enough... Time for lessons. Come on.
    [Lamont] ... Okay... I suppose...
    * Lamont grabs his sword.
    [Dayanara] Yes or no, there is no "I suppose".
    [Lamont] Yes ma'am...
    * Pseudo-Cassandra steps out into the hall.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Where ya' goin' Lamont?
    * Pseudo-Cassandra sees Dayanara...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] (low, hostile) With her?
    [Lamont] She wants to show me some sword techniques...
    [Lamont] You're welcome to come along.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Mmm... I better.
    [Lamont] . o O (In fact I'd prefer it that way... )
    * Lamont smiles slightly.
    [Lamont] Good.
    * Dayanara leads Lamont down the stairs to one of the large training rooms used for "explosive and decompressive" magicks...

    Practice Room, Magic Guild Mansion

    * Dayanara takes a position near the center of the room.
    [Dayanara] Ready.
    * Pseudo-Cassandra wispers in Lamont's ear...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Be careful. I don't like her one bit.
    * Lamont draws his sword.
    [Lamont] I'll be fine...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] (soft, mubmling) That doesn't make me like her any more...
    [Lamont] (mumbles) Don't worry... she's just another person...
    * Dayanara unhitches her sword belt... She takes a length of rope and wraps it around her hilt and scabbard, securing the sword inside.
    [Dayanara] Ready?
    [Lamont] Certainly.
    [Dayanara] Alright, come at me.
    * Lamont slides his foot into an offensive position.
    * Dayanara stands ready to defend.
    [Dayanara] Any time now.
    * Lamont rushes at her very carefully, knowing her full extent of power and strikes!
    * Dayanara sweeps her sheated blade down, knocking his away and turning around so she's behind him. She spanks him on the butt with the flat of her sword and takes a few steps back.
    [Dayanara] Wanna try that again?
    * Lamont blushes a second.
    [Lamont] I'm not as strong as you...
    [Dayanara] No, but you'll have to be for what comes ahead.
    * Lamont whips around to her back side and swings at her legs with his sword.
    * Dayanara leaps over his sword, then sweeps hers down and around under his guard to tap his ribs.
    [Lamont] ... you're toying with me.
    [Dayanara] With spirit... Come on... Come at me.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Fight fair.
    * Lamont leaps to Daya and swings the butt of his sword at her ribs this time.
    * Dayanara sucks in her stomach, backpedalling just enough so he misses.
    [Dayanara] Very nice! Again!
    * Lamont spins into a crowch and tries to take her legs out from under her with his right leg.
    * Dayanara leans over, doing a half cartwheel, then landing in a crouch and lashing out at his semi-exposed side.
    * Lamont attempts to defend the attack with his blade.
    * Dayanara doesn't get inside his guard, but she manages to get her arm tangled up in his and her sword. She twists, applies some reverse leverage and stands up.
    [Storyteller] Lamont falls to the ground... after a sickening crack.
    * Lamont struggles to get up, holding his arm... which appears to have seen much better days.
    [Lamont] ... I thought you wanted to train. *wince* This isn't training...
    * Dayanara half-smiles...
    [Dayanara] It worked for me... Now use the other hand.
    [Lamont] ... how can I fight with a broken arm?
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] You don't have to fight her, Lamont! The bitch is cheating!
    * Lamont waves to Cassandra with his good arm.
    [Lamont] No... I'll take care of this...
    [Dayanara] Come on... Pick up your sword.
    * Lamont takes the sword into his left hand. He dashes forth and leaps into the air, slashing at Daya on the way down, a very quick move!
    * Pseudo-Cassandra backs of slightly.
    * Dayanara turns to block, but the lightning attack makes it through her guard, slicing a long red line down her arm...
    [Dayanara] VERY NICE!
    * Lamont twirls his sword expertly with his left hand.
    [Lamont] I am left-handed after all...
    * Dayanara laughs...
    [Dayanara] That's enough for now...
    * Dayanara hitches her sword back on her belt...
    * Lamont sighs and slumps down in a heap.
    [Lamont] Damn my arm hurts...
    * Dayanara pulls a small white box off her belt and walks over...
    [Dayanara] Let me.
    * Lamont looks at her oddly.
    * Dayanara removes a small syringe and a greyish black strip of some odd looking material.
    [Dayanara] Take off your shirt.
    [Lamont] ... my ... shirt?
    * Lamont blushes a little.
    [Dayanara] Yeah, your shirt. Take it off.
    * Pseudo-Cassandra stands by the wayside, seriously considering attacking Dayanara.
    * Lamont glances over at Cassandra.
    [Lamont] Um... I'm not really sure if I wanna do that...
    [Dayanara] Oh, you wimp...
    * Dayanara grabs the broken arm and pushes the sleeve up.
    * Lamont winces as she grabs it.
    [Lamont] Here, here...
    * Dayanara pokes him with the needle and pushes the plunger...
    [Storyteller] The pain dulls somewhat.
    * Dayanara wraps the greyish black band around his arm.
    * Lamont blinks.
    [Lamont] What did you do?
    [Storyteller] The pain increases dramatically for just a moment, then the band begins to sink through his skin.
    [Lamont] What the... ?
    * Dayanara steps back, returning the medkit to her belt.
    [Dayanara] There, all better.
    [Lamont] ... you can't just fix a broken arm like that...
    [Storyteller] The arm no longer hurts, and seems to be working just well. However, you can see the black band embedded just below your skin.
    [Dayanara] Yeah, you can. Just be easy on it for a few days. The bonestim band will come back out when it's done.
    * Dayanara heads out the door.
    * Lamont moves his arm, surprised.
    [Lamont] What in the... ?
    [Dayanara] Get him cleaned up again, Cassandra.
    * Dayanara walks out.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] (mumble) You bitch...
    [Dayanara] (from the hallway) I heard that.

    Town Square, Floating Magic City of Vane

    [Storyteller] You're wandering the heavily battered city, looking for a particular type of store.
    * Salah wanders the streets looking for a jewelery shop.
    [Storyteller] Unfortunately, the only sign of what you're looking for is a sign sitting next to a rather large and glittery pile of rubble. Further down the avenue, however, is a watch maker.
    * Salah thinks to herself.
    [Salah] Maybe he can help me.
    * Salah wanders over to the watch maker.

    "Borrowed Time - Buy, Sell, & Repair Watches", Floating Magic City of Vane

    * Salah enters the shoppe.
    [Storyteller] A tall, thin man with dusty brown hair is in one corner. He appears to be attempting to re-hang a shelf, but can't hold both sides in place at once. There are watches and other time pieces scattered all over the floor, some apparently working, others shattered and destroyed from the lurching Vane was making.
    * Salah walks over and holds up the left side of the shelf smiling at the man.
    [Salah] Need help?
    [Watch Seller] Oh my... Oh, yes... Please, thank you.
    [Storyteller] He nails his side in then moves over to Salah's side.
    [Watch Seller] Thank you very kindly... Is there something I can do for you?
    [Salah] Yes, I was wondering if you could repair this...
    [Storyteller] He finishes nailing the shelf and steps back. It immediately falls off.
    * Salah removes the pendant from her pocket and hands it to the man. She winces slightly at the noise and the collapse of the shelf.
    [Watch Seller] Oh well... Hrmm? A pendant... Well, I'm not really a jeweler...
    [Salah] Well, I just need the chain fixed... Can you help me?
    [Storyteller] He walks over to his work bench, brushing a pile of shattered gears aside.
    [Watch Seller] I'm sure I can do something... Lemme see.
    * Salah follows, standing on the opposite side of the bench and hands the pendant to him.
    [Storyteller] He takes the pendant, looking at the chain closely...
    [Watch Seller] Hm... I think I can fix this... yep...
    [Salah] Oh, that's good to hear.
    * Salah smiles.
    [Storyteller] He tries to slip the chain out. As soon as he does, the pendant slips and falls out of his hand, landing on the table. Something clicks.
    [Watch Seller] Oh dear... I'm sorry...
    [Salah] It's all right... but... What was that sound... ?
    [Watch Seller] What sound?
    [Salah] That clicking sound...
    [Watch Seller] I dunno...
    [Storyteller] He picks up the pendant...
    [Watch Seller] Lookie here...
    [Salah] What is it?
    [Storyteller] He holds it out to her, showing her the edge. It looks like the entire pendant has a narrow although incredibly even crack all the way around...
    * Salah looks closely at the pendant, especially the new crack...
    [Salah] Did it... break?
    [Watch Seller] Nah... it's too even... I think it opens... Want me to try?
    [Salah] Yes please.
    [Watch Seller] Hmmm...
    [Storyteller] He sets it down on the counter, then looks around the room. He rushes over to a pile of clock parts, pulling out a magnifying glass and a little leather case of tools.
    [Watch Seller] Sorry 'bout the mess... Now, what do we have here?
    [Storyteller] He sets the magnifying glass in a stand that's bolted to the table, then sets the pendant under it. He holds it down with one hand, while using a small pair of pliers to pry it open.
    [Storyteller] He adjusts his funny little hat, like the ones card dealers wear. He grumbles, puffs, then turns it around and pries it from the other side. POP! The top of the pendant comes off, skittering across the counter...
    [Watch Seller] Lookie what we have here...
    * Salah looks on with much curiousity.
    [Storyteller] The pendant is chock full of little tiny blinking things. Some of them are wired to other blinking things, while others are wrapped in coils of wire by themselves. It looks very intricate and very delicate.
    [Watch Seller] I've certainly never seen a watch like this before...
    [Salah] What is that stuff... ?
    [Watch Seller] Well... That there is gold... And I think that's silver... Hrmm... Those look like little diamonds over there...
    [Storyteller] He scratches his head.
    [Watch Seller] Except that they glow and flash like that...
    [Storyteller] He shrugs, straightening up.
    [Watch Seller] You got me...
    [Storyteller] He picks up the chain.
    [Watch Seller] Be right back.
    [Salah] Huh... I never knew it had that stuff in there...
    [Storyteller] He heads out to the back of the store.
    [Storyteller] As you look back at it, some of the components have moved locations while others have disappeared and new bits have formed.
    * Salah moves her finger toward one of the small movable components.
    [Storyteller] The Watch Seller comes back out with your chain and another one. It's reasonably similar to the original.
    [Watch Seller] I couldn't fix it, but I've gone one pretty close.
    [Salah] That'll be fine... thank you.
    [Watch Seller] You want me to close it back up?
    [Storyteller] He picks up the discarded top casing.
    [Salah] Umm... yeah... but can I open it back up later?
    [Storyteller] He quickly grinds a notch in the cover then presses it back on. When it does, the seam vanishes, except for where the notch is.
    [Watch Seller] There ya' go. 19 silver.
    [Salah] Thank you very much.
    * Salah pulls out twenty-five silver and hands it to the man.
    [Watch Seller] Most kind.

    Magic Guild Mansion, Floating Magic City of Vane

    [Storyteller] Audrey and Will are walking down the hall in the Magic Guild. Cassandra, Lamont, and Dayanara pass the opposite direction as they head up towards the guest quarters.
    * Lamont makes a habit to say hello to Will and Audrey kindly before he passes.
    * Pseudo-Cassandra doesn't.
    * Audrey says hello kindly back. ^_^
    * Will waves hello at Lamont, Daya and Cassandra as well. ^_^
    [Audrey] I wonder where they're going? ^_^
    [Will] I don't know... ^^; The mansion is so big, and... I tend to get lost...
    [Audrey] I know...
    [Audrey] So, where are you off to, Will?
    [Will] W-well... I was going to my room...
    [Audrey] Oh...
    * Audrey smiles.
    [Audrey] I'm... not sure where I was going... I'm... just wandering... I guess.
    * Will brushes the back of his hand across his forehead, smiling. ^_^
    [Will] Maybe... maybe you should rest a little too... I'm feeling... a little... a little...
    [Audrey] A little what?
    [Storyteller] Will collapses, smacking his head against a wall moulding as he goes down.
    [Audrey] Will!
    * Audrey kneels down and shakes Will, trying to revive him!
    [Audrey] Will! Wake up!
    [Storyteller] Will blinks a few times, then starts to come around...
    [Audrey] Will... ;_;
    [Audrey] Are you all right?
    [Will] E-eh... wh-where... ?
    [Audrey] You... you collapsed...
    [Storyteller] Audrey has a smidge of blood on her fingers from where she brushed the back of Will's head. She feels a strong compulsion to lick it off, but manages to just wipe it off on her skirt instead.
    * Will shakes his head a little...
    [Will] Collapsed... ?
    [Audrey] Yes... :/ Are you feeling better now? Do you need help?
    [Will] I... I'm... all right... I think...
    [Audrey] That's good. You should go to sleep... :/ I don't think you're well...
    * Will coughs, trying to get up again.
    [Will] H-hai...
    * Audrey helps Will slightly.
    * Lalaith sticks her head out of one of the study rooms...
    [Lalaith] I heard somebody fall... Are you okay?
    * Will gets to his feet with Audrey's help.
    [Audrey] I think so now. Will... just got a bit woozy. I'm going to help him to his room.
    [Lalaith] He looks more like he could use a bite to eat than a nap... When was the last time you people had real food?
    [Audrey] ... O_o
    [Will] N-no... I'm fine... just some rest...
    [Audrey] Will, you have been eating, haven't you?
    * Audrey sighs sadly.
    [Audrey] Oh Will, I thought we went over this... :/
    * Will stays silent, looking at the floor.
    * Lalaith realizes this is gonna turn into a personal kind of thing, so she slips back into the study room to finish cleaning.
    [Audrey] Will... you have to eat... I'm really worried about you...
    [Will] I... don't like it... I can't...
    [Audrey] Well, I'm just going to have to be forceful then!
    * Audrey takes Will's hand.
    [Will] W-wait...
    [Audrey] I know... but... I... I just don't want you getting sick.
    [Audrey] Don't worry. :) No one has to know.
    * Audrey takes Will's hand and drags him toward the kitchen.
    [Audrey] You can be angry with me later. Eat now. ^_^

    Pianissimo Street, Floating Magic City of Vane

    [Storyteller] Miri is wandering the city, taking in as much as she can before the party leaves. She wanders down a side road, just to see where it leads. The houses down this way seem to have been spared a great deal of the devestation... About half way down the street, she sees a familiar face. He's standing outside one of the houses, looking up at it whistfully...
    * Miriamele greets him cheerfully.
    [Miriamele] Hi, Finn!
    * Finn smiles at seeing Miri...
    [Finn] Hi there. What are you up to?
    [Miriamele] Just trying to take in what I can before we go... since we will be going. I came to this side of Nanza just to see it's cities... and it's turned out to be full of weird metal places n' such.
    [Finn] Yeah, tell me about it. I'm so sick of all these machines.
    [Miriamele] Everything here is so... so... I dunno. ^^; But there's nothing like it out on the Frontier.
    * Finn sighs.
    [Finn] It's a change, that's for sure. Everything changes...
    [Miriamele] This is all new for me... nothing ever changed back home... if that could count as a home.
    [Finn] This particular area isn't new to me.
    [Miriamele] You lived here once?
    * Miriamele smiles.
    [Miriamele] You're lucky. ^_^
    * Miriamele looks up at the house Finn was staring at.
    [Miriamele] Was this where you lived?
    [Finn] Yeah, as a matter of fact... I was just on my way inside.
    [Miriamele] I guess I shouldn't keep you then. ^^; I suppose all the time we have here is limited, and I shouldn't make you waste yours on me. ^^;
    [Finn] Nonsense. Why don't you come in with me? That is, if you want to...
    [Miriamele] You're sure? I wouldn't want to intrude. ^^;
    [Finn] It wouldn't be an intrusion in the least. I'd be happy to have the company... As long as you wouldn't be bored.
    * Miriamele wags her tail a bit, but struggles to not make it that noticable.
    [Miriamele] Then I'd be happy to accompany you. ^^
    [Finn] Okay...
    * Finn reaches under the welcome mat, withdraws a key, and opens the door.
    * Miriamele steps out of his path.
    [Miriamele] Lead the way. ^_^
    * Finn enters and takes a deep breath...
    [Finn] Wow. The last time I was here was before I met you all...
    [Storyteller] The place looks fairly decent... A lot of the furniture has shifted around from all the shaking, but nothing major appears to be broken.
    [Miriamele] Does anyone live here now? Or did you lock it up when you left?
    * Miriamele looks around at the rooms' furnishings and decor.
    [Finn] Nobody lives here... Take a seat if you want. :)
    * Miriamele searches out a big fluffy looking chair or couch to sit in.
    * Finn looks around...
    [Storyteller] Miriamele spots a small picture frame face down by the fireplace.
    * Miriamele picks up the frame to have a look when Finn is paying attention to something else.
    * Finn turns his back to Miri and brushes some dust off a chair.
    [Storyteller] The background appears to be fake, like the whole picture is magically generated, however, the smiles on the faces of the couple depicted are nothing if not genuine.
    [Storyteller] One of the people is Finn, of course. The other is a beautiful blonde woman. She's at least an inch or two taller than him, if not more.
    * Miriamele leans back in the chair again.
    [Miriamele] Who is she? May I ask?
    * Finn turns back to face Miri. He smiles wryly and gently takes the picture from her...
    [Finn] This is my fiancee. Her name is Susannah... She... she's been gone for awhile.
    * Miriamele looks up at him.
    [Miriamele] What happened? The picture was turned face down...
    [Finn] She just left one day.
    * Miriamele looks back at where it was resting...
    [Finn] And never told me why. I've seen her in dreams since then...
    * Miriamele looks back up at him.
    [Miriamele] I'm sorry...
    [Finn] And once she appeared as a sort of apparition... But it's all an enigma. And it's painful to think about, although I still search for her.
    [Miriamele] Do you miss her?
    [Finn] Very much so. It's like half of me just got up and walked out.
    [Miriamele] Well... maybe she searches for you as well... that she had to go because of something beyond her ability to control... I'm sure she misses you alot too.
    [Finn] I hope you're right. My ultimate hope is that one day we'll be reunited...
    * Miriamele says quietly.
    [Miriamele] I know I'm right...
    [Finn] Although I'll still have to fight after we're back together, anyway. Until things in this world have been righted.
    [Miriamele] You're gonna keep on with the warrior thing?
    [Storyteller] There's a knock at the door.
    [Miriamele] If you--
    [Finn] Excuse me for a moment.
    * Miriamele looks up towards the door.
    * Finn opens the door.
    * Miriamele nods.
    [Dawson] How'd I know you'd come right here?
    * Finn smiles.
    [Finn] Dawson. Come in.
    * Dawson smiles.
    [Finn] Miriamele, have you met Dawson? He's one of my closest friends.
    [Dawson] Actually... You need to come out. You need to make another trip on the Dragonmaster.
    * Dawson smiles at Miriamele...
    * Miriamele shakes her head no.
    [Miriamele] I don't think so. ^^;
    * Miriamele waves and smiles.
    [Miriamele] Hiyas.
    [Dawson] A pleasure... I'm Dawson Iwada, Grandmaster-class member of the Vane Magic Guild...
    [Finn] Well, now you're introduced... I guess we ought to go, although I'm none too eager to see that ship again...
    * Dawson holds out his hand to Miri.
    * Finn silently removes the picture from the frame, folds it neatly and pockets it, then sets the frame down nearby.
    [Miriamele] Miriamele... uh... of the... uhm... I dunno... Frontier, maybe?
    * Miriamele blushes and feels foolish.
    * Dawson chuckles.
    [Dawson] You're cute when you blush. Don't worry about it. I just use the title to get *exactly* that reaction from cute girls... Call me Dawson.
    * Finn eyes Dawson sharply.
    [Finn] *w* behave yourself!
    * Miriamele turns even more crimson. ^^;
    * Dawson feels Finn's eyes digging into him.
    [Finn] Off we go now!
    [Dawson] Aw, come on! You know I'm just teasin'...
    * Finn ushers Dawson out the door.
    * Dawson heads out the door.
    [Dawson] Lala would have my head if I was serious...
    * Finn holds the door open for Miri.
    [Dawson] (softly) You *know* she sees everything that happens in town... Ain't it freaky?
    * Miriamele quickly darts out, in typical Mirifashion.

    Great Hall, Magic Guild Mansion

    [Storyteller] An hour or two later, the party is all gathered together in the Great Hall. Mia and Nash are seated on their thrones while Lalaith and Dawson stand off to the side. The group is loosely arrayed in front of them, already having been told by Nash to relax.
    * Lamont stands by Cassandra, looking at his arm rather oddly.
    * Salah lets her pendant hang around her neck, resting on her bosom.
    * Audrey looks around, admiring the decorations.
    * Will leans against a wall, feeling tired and more or less stuffed... ^^;
    * Lynna stands in the hall, silently... looking at Nash and Mia.
    [Nash] Well... We've been thinking...
    * Finn folds his arms and regards Nash.
    [Mia] And we can really only think of one sure-fire way to defeat this "Lord Koran".
    [Audrey] Oh?
    * Mia nods.
    [Nash] It's time for a new Dragonmaster.
    [Will] A new... dragonmaster... ?
    [Lamont] A new one?
    [Lynna] No, an old one. :P
    * Nash nods.
    [Lamont] Isn't Dragonmaster Alex still the Dragomaster?
    [Audrey] Yes... isn't he?
    [Mia] Alex retired a few years ago. He returned the Dragon Armor, Shield, Helmet, and Wings to thier rightful owners.
    * Salah listens silently.
    [Finn] Hmmm.
    [Will] But... do you have someone worthy of becoming a Dragonmaster in mind... ?
    [Nash] Mia, Lalaith, and myself have done some scrying on the matter, and there is definetly one among you with the potential to become the next Dragonmaster.
    [Mia] We... We're just not sure who. You're all special in your own way.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] (soft, mumble) Me? Yeah right...
    [Finn] So... how are we supposed to find out?
    * Lynna shifts her position somewhat, adjusting her black cloak.
    [Audrey] Definetly not me. ^^; I wouldn't want to be one anyway.
    * Lamont shakes his head.
    [Lamont] It can't be me... there's nothing special about me.
    [Will] I'm... far too weak to be a Dragonmaster... ^^;
    [Lynna] I'm not interested in being a Dragonmaster... I have my own responsibilities.
    * Salah clutches her pendant... whispering her sister's name and staring blankly for a moment.
    [Nash] You gather up all the Dragon gear... When the time is right, the Four Dragons will reveal it to you.
    [Finn] You guys shouldn't sell yourselves so short.
    [Miriamele] Heh... I'm tops in the nothing special department... a tail does not make a Dragonmaster. ^^;
    [Finn] All of you are courageous and strong.
    [Will] Are you saying we should visit all the Dragon caves... ?
    [Mia] Oh, Finn is right... You're all very special... Dawson and little Ramus Jr. have told me about your adventures... You're very brave and strong to have come this far.
    [Nash] Yes.
    * Audrey blushes. ^_^
    [Lynna] If you say so.
    [Lamont] Nah... I'm not special... just a kid who spent some time in Vane...
    [Finn] Do we go through them in the traditional order? White, Blue, Red, Black?
    * Salah tilts her head and looks at Nash and Mia...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] (mumbles) Unlike you chickens locked up in your magical city...
    [Salah] What does Koran want?
    [Lamont] Doesn't matter what he wants... Nothing is worth attacking and hurting innocent people.
    [Dawson] I'd guess power, like all megalomaniacs with expensive toys.
    [Lalaith] Dawson, shush.
    [Nash] The order doesn't really matter.
    [Salah] Didn't... didn't Madeline say that he wanted to do something that Neal did?
    [Lynna] He's sure got them in abundance, it seems... but I think somebody needs to break them...
    [Lamont] Didn't Madeline also try to kill us?
    * Will shakes his head...
    [Will] What worries me is the level of technology he uses... there is something very strange about it...
    [Mia] That's why one of you needs to become the Dragonmaster...
    [Audrey] Hmm...
    [Nash] With the power of the dragons behind you, you should be able to render his technology useless.
    [Salah] But... what if... if Neal is the bad guy... ?
    [Mia] What do you mean?
    [Lamont] Well, it's gotta be one of you... Cassandra... or Finn... or maybe someone else... I know it's not me.
    [Will] .oO(I'm not so sure... just how strong is Althena? Is this really the right thing to do?)
    [Finn] Maybe it IS you, Lamont, and that's your destiny... You'll never be able to fulfill it with an attitude like that.
    [Lynna] I don't care who's on who's side. All I know is that Koran is on my list of unfinished business.
    [Lamont] There's nothing special about me... anyone can do what I do.
    [Storyteller] The doors swing open a bit, Ramus II steps inside...
    [Salah] I mean, Koran is searching for Neal right... ?
    * Audrey nods to Ramus.
    [Audrey] Hello.
    * Finn shakes his head slowly.
    [Salah] And Neal is hiding... no one knows where he is...
    [Ramus II] You guys ready to go? If we don't leave soon, we may not get to shore. There's a pretty vicious storm brewing.
    [Lamont] I know someone knows where he is, Salah.
    * Dayanara slips in the door.
    [Lamont] And here she comes now...
    [Dayanara] Move it or loose it, people.
    [Salah] I don't understand it... but... he said... that he was hiding because he was protecting me...
    * Finn casts a disparaging glance at Dayanara.
    [Storyteller] Dayanara and Ramus II head out the door.
    [Audrey] Right, I'd hate to fall in the sea again like last time. :/
    * Lamont awaits for Cassandra to go.
    [Mia] I'm sure the Red Dragon will have more information for you.
    [Lamont] We're going to see the Red Dragon, I suppose.
    [Miriamele] We'd better not. I hate water, kinda. ^^;
    * Salah glances at Finn and the others.
    [Mia] She's the closest.
    [Finn] The Red Dragon first... that's odd.
    * Will shakes his head...
    [Will] I'm not sure we can do it... but... there's nothing else for us to do.
    [Lynna] Audrey... I thought I was this party's pessimist? You taking over my job?
    * Lynna smirks a little.
    [Nash] The order doesn't really matter...
    [Lamont] Well, we're an odd bunch...
    [Audrey] ^^; I don't mean to be...
    [Nash] Dyne and Alex went White-Red-Blue-Black, but the twins before them went in the opposite order.
    [Audrey] Twins? Oh! Alicia and Laticia!
    * Nash nods.
    * Will steps over towards the door.
    [Miriamele] I guess I should have spent some time in the library... *sighs* So much to see, so much I'm not knowing. ^^;
    [Salah] Well... I guess we should go...
    [Will] We should go get our equipment quickly... ^^;
    [Lalaith] Your gear is right outside.
    [Storyteller] Dawson and Lalaith head over to Finn.
    * Nash steps down and walks over to Lynna.
    [Will] E-eh... well, in that case...
    * Lynna steps up to the throne of Nash and Mia, but Nash cuts her short.
    * Lamont stretches
    * Mia heads over to Audrey and Will...
    * Audrey nods.
    [Audrey] Let's go. :) We can always come back to Vane when we're in more peaceful times!
    [Mia] You two watch out for each other, okay.
    [Dawson] Hey, Finn... Good luck, man...
    [Finn] Thanks...
    [Lalaith] I hope you find Susannah, Finn...
    * Lynna looks at him a few moments... it's not quite the same vibes from before.
    * Finn shakes Dawson's hand.
    * Salah glances out the window towards the storm...
    [Salah] oO(An omen... of what's to come... ?)
    [Lynna] I suppose I should say thank you.
    * Will looks at Mia, and then Audrey, a crimson flush surfacing in his face.
    * Nash sits down on the raised step.
    * Finn embraces Lalaith lightly...
    [Finn] Thank you, so do I.
    [Nash] No need. You know... If you wanted to come back after you're done... I could use a new professor in the Illusion school...
    [Audrey] Will? ^^:
    * Miriamele waits for everyone else quietly, tail flicking casually.
    * Mia smiles.
    [Audrey] Oh! ^_^ Of course...
    * Audrey blushes as well.
    [Mia] I think he's speechless...
    * Lamont stands around waiting for the others.
    [Mia] Get outta' here, you two.
    * Lynna lets a slow smile cross her face.
    * Dayanara sticks her head back in.
    [Dayanara] Any day now...
    [Will] H-hai!
    [Lynna] I knew it... always trying to make me come back. I'll keep it in mind...
    * Lalaith hugs Finn back.
    * Will turns around and hurries outside to get his gear and climb aboard the ship.
    [Lalaith] (wisper) You'll find her, I know you will.
    * Finn smiles at Lalaith.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Come on... Let's go, Lamont...
    [Lamont] Coming, Cassandra.
    * Lamont follows.
    * Finn heads out...
    * Salah slowly walks out of the room.
    * Lynna turns on her heels a little, looking back at Nash.
    [Lynna] Oh, and would you fix your hair? I never could stand it.
    * Lynna leaves. ^^
    [Nash] You think they can do it?
    [Mia] No doubts.
    * Nash nods, takes Mia's hand, and leads her out of the room.

    MSS Dragonmaster A

    [Salah] Here we go again...
    * Audrey follows everyone, feeling a little better from all the praise she received from Mia. ^^:
    [Ramus II] All aboard that's goin' aboard!
    * Miriamele tags along, about has happy as ever.
    * Salah steps aboard the ship, trips and goes plummenting down.
    * Ramus II catches her.
    [Ramus II] Watch it there, kiddo.
    * Finn climbs aboard, shuddering at a sudden flashback.
    * Ramus II chuckles.
    * Audrey looks about the ship quietly.
    [Audrey] Back into the saddle again. ^^
    [Ramus II] Oh, come on Finn... I promise not to throw you off this time.
    * Salah blushes a little.
    [Salah] Thank you, god, I can never step onto this ship without tripping.
    [Lynna] Don't fall out like Salah there, Audrey.
    [Ramus II] Not a problem, Salah.
    * Lynna heads up the gangplank.
    [Finn] Yeah, you'd better not.
    * Ramus II sets her upright, then heads for the bridge.
    * Miriamele heads on board, muttering about how boats make her uneasy.
    [Patricia] Hey there again...
    * Will climbs up.
    [Patricia] We've got a real cabin for you guys this time.
    * Lamont follows Cassandra on bored silently... looking for a place to sit and draw
    * Salah walks over to the front of the ship and seats herself in her usual spot.
    [Patricia] If you don't mind sharing, that is?
    [Audrey] ^_^ A real cabin...
    [Miriamele] Hmmm... bed sounds about to be the safest place on a boat...
    * Lynna shrugs.
    [Lynna] A lot better than the view from below...
    [Storyteller] Tooooooooooot! Tooooooooooooot! Toooooooooooooot! HOOOOOOOOONK!
    [Will] I-I'm sure it has to be an improvement over camping... ^_^
    [Audrey] It has to be.
    [Storyteller] The ship begins to back away from the dock. It's quickly free and clear, the Magic City moving a it's own brisk clip.
    * Lamont takes a seat in the corner and starts to draw.
    * Patricia heads up to where the others are seated.
    [Patricia] I'd suggest going below decks, it's pretty choppy out here.
    [Audrey] Oh... ? Okay.
    * Salah looks out to sea, hair blowing in the wind.
    * Lynna glances around the decks.
    [Lynna] I think I'm going to stay up here...
    [Patricia] Suit yourself.
    [Will] It sounds like a good idea to me... ^^;
    * Lynna finds a solitary spot by the railing.
    * Audrey sighs.
    [Audrey] I get seasick easily. I think I'll head below. :)
    * Audrey heads ... below! ^^
    * Miriamele heads below, in search of a comfy warm place to endure this trip.
    * Will descends the stairs and starts hunting for the cabins. ^_^
    * Audrey finds an open cabin, sees a bed, and lies down on top of it. ^_^
    * Lamont stands up.
    [Lamont] So we have to share cabins... I wonder who is gonna wanna share with me...
    [Storyteller] There's a pair of cabins side by side. Each of them has room for four.
    * Audrey snoozes in her room, the door slightly open ^_^
    * Lamont heads down into the lower deck.
    * Salah sighs a little bit and walks toward the cabins.
    * Will looks at both cabin doors...
    * Lamont eyes Will.
    [Lamont] I think we'll be in the same cabin... then the girls will be in the other.
    [Storyteller] Patricia heads down below to tend her engines. Once the ship has begun moving, Ramus comes down onto the bow.

    Bow, MSS Dragonmaster A

    [Ramus II] Hey, Miss Lynna... Can I have a moment of your time?
    * Lynna turns around.
    [Lynna] Deja vu.
    [Ramus II] I just wanted to appologize again... I still feel really bad about that whole demon thing...
    * Lynna hides her face a little.
    [Lynna] Demon thing...
    * Lynna turns back around.
    [Lynna] Don't concern yourself. I guess you did what was right for your ship. Actually...
    * Ramus II turns back, having just been walking away.
    [Ramus II] Yes?
    [Lynna] Tell me what happened... that time.
    [Ramus II] What do you mean? The first time you came on board?
    * Lynna has an intense stare.
    [Lynna] Yes... I want to know everything you saw.
    [Ramus II] I... Well... As soon as Yeoman Stern had passed you up to Ensign Tate, you went all black.
    [Lynna] All black...
    * Ramus II nods.
    [Lynna] You sure it wasn't an illusion or possibly my magic?
    [Ramus II] I dunno... It looked like you were made out of oil or something... Then you grew these claws and wings and spikes all over... You quite nearly ripped Ensign Tate's arm off...
    [Lynna] Hmm...
    [Ramus II] You lashed out at anybody who came near, until three of the Engineer's Mates tackled you from behind.
    [Lynna] And that's how I ended up below?
    [Ramus II] You hit your head on the guard rail pretty hard. It must have knocked you out.
    [Lynna] ...
    [Ramus II] Yeah...
    * Lynna turns back around.
    [Lynna] They say when you lose consciousness you can act on instinct alone...
    * Ramus II looks like he genuinely feels bad.
    [Lynna] And this wouldn't be the first time I have ended up somewhere strange, with no recollection...
    [Ramus II] No... When was the first time?
    * Lynna lowers her head.
    [Lynna] I can't quite recall it exactly. It was around the time my parents took me in. I can't even remember my earlier years at all...
    [Storyteller] You hear a voice up above.
    [Crewman] Captain Ramus, sir?
    * Lynna looks up.
    [Ramus II] Yes, Crewman?
    [Crewman] You probably wanna come up here and take the helm. We're about to enter the storm front.
    [Ramus II] Very well...
    [Lynna] You should go, 'Captain' Ramus. Don't waste your time here.
    [Ramus II] We can continue this conversation later. I'd suggest going below, it's bound to get ugly up here.
    [Lynna] We'll do that. I'm going below.
    * Lynna nods to Ramus, and walks off...
    * Ramus II nods as he heads up to the bridge.

    Belowdecks, MSS Dragonmaster A

    * Lynna walks into the cabin housing the girls, and opens the door with a few things on her mind.
    * Salah sits on one of the beds brushing her hair.
    * Lynna closes the door behind her.
    [Lynna] Hey.
    * Pseudo-Cassandra fiddles with her whip.
    * Audrey sleeps... not that exciting.
    * Lynna looks at Salah.
    [Lynna] Salah, I need to ask you something.
    * Salah looks up.
    [Salah] Yeah... ?
    [Salah] What is it?
    * Lynna sits down on the bed beside her, taking a moment to pull her hood off...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] What now?
    [Lynna] I want you to tell me what happened in the Cave of Trial... Lamont made a crack about something, and I want to know what.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] What about Lamont?
    [Salah] Umm... What do you mean?
    * Audrey mumbles something about she's not that kind of girl.
    [Lynna] About why one moment I was walking with you, and the next I woke up choking on cave dirt in a world of pain.
    [Salah] Well...
    * Pseudo-Cassandra throws something at Audrey.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Stop mumbling.
    [Lynna] I want you to be honest. I don't like liars...
    [Salah] I don't know exactly what happened... But when you left us--you know, going deeper into the cave.
    [Lynna] I left you?
    [Salah] We came after hearing some fighting and saw you. You had transformed into this... this monster.
    * Audrey whimpers.
    [Lynna] What did... this monster look like?
    * Audrey rolls over and mumbles how she's not like 'him'.
    [Lynna] Did it happen to be black... and have claws and spikes... ?
    [Salah] A large... black creature... Yeah...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] A cross between a demon, a thorn bush, and a dead bat...
    [Lynna] ...
    * Salah glances at Cass.
    [Salah] To put it more bluntly, yes.
    [Audrey] Not like him... gaaah...
    * Audrey clutches her pillow.
    [Lynna] What happened afterwards...
    * Pseudo-Cassandra tosses her pillow at Audrey.
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Shuddup.
    * Audrey cries out and falls off her bed!
    [Salah] Well... you collapsed. And---
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Just like that?
    * Salah winces at the noise.
    * Audrey stands up and fumes.
    [Audrey] What did you do that for?
    * Pseudo-Cassandra points at Audrey...
    [Salah] Can you guys keep it down?
    * Pseudo-Cassandra quickly withdraws her finger.
    [Salah] Please?
    [Audrey] ...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Sooooooory, little miss brain bender...
    * Audrey is deadly silent and just walks outside the door, slamming it shut behind her.
    * Pseudo-Cassandra leans back in her bed.
    * Lynna's unobscured faces glares at Cassandra with brown eyes...
    * Salah sighs heavily and rubs her head...
    [Salah] Well...
    [Lynna] I want you all to be serious here.
    [Salah] Anyway...
    [Pseudo-Cassandra] Shove it, gothgirl. You don't scare me, even if you are some sort of demon.
    [Salah] You... collapsed, and-- Cassandra!
    * Lynna glowers.
    [Lynna] If I was, you'd be the first to die... now be quiet.
    [Salah] Please don't fight guys.
    [Lynna] Salah, keep talking.
    * Audrey stands outside the door... looks at the ground... then slides down the wall and curls up into a ball, crying.
    * Lynna rests her hands on her knees, trying to absorb all this with a clear head...
    * Pseudo-Cassandra sticks out her tongue, then rolls over to go to sleep a bit.
    [Salah] You collapsed... and you bursted into this blob thing... Kinda looked like ink or something... Th-then you transformed back into yourself...
    * Lynna whispers, "... just like what Ramus said... black liquid... like oil or ink... "
    [Lynna] And that's when I revived?
    * Salah nods.
    [Lynna] As far as I can remember, I never left in the first place.
    * Lynna ponders a minute silently.
    [Lynna] Salah...
    [Salah] Don't let it get to you Lynna...
    [Lynna] What about that other time...
    [Salah] The other time?
    [Lynna] How I ended up in that cursed Firebase whatever-it-was.
    [Salah] Ummm... I don't know...
    [Lynna] One moment we're being rudely interruppted in the observation place, and I get shot by something... then I blacked out.
    [Salah] We were attacked... but I don't know how you got stuck in the base.
    [Lynna] What about that Nobody character? You said he healed me.
    [Salah] We found Nobody working on you, said he was fixing you.
    [Lynna] Fixing me... What was wrong in the first place... ?
    [Salah] You were in this strange looking glass tube, looking like that ink/blob stuff.
    [Salah] I... I don't know...
    [Lynna] Again... again with that...
    * Lynna rises from the bed.
    [Lynna] ... perhaps I shouldn't have asked.
    [Salah] Lynna... you're not different than you were before. Even if you can change into that... thing, you are still Lynna.
    [Lynna] If I am some monster... or if what Koran said to me was true...
    [Salah] That's who you are, and we care about you the same way.
    [Lynna] No... don't fool yourself. Noone cares about me. Noone should... especially if I am something else.
    [Salah] I care.
    [Lynna] What if I was the person that destroyed a town? Or your family? Would you still care?
    * Salah stops.
    * Lynna looks at her.
    [Salah] D-don't say that! It wasn't you!
    [Lynna] Ask yourself that, because it may be the truth...
    [Salah] It wasn't!
    * Salah clutches her pendant...
    [Salah] Lynna...
    * Lynna shakes her head.
    [Lynna] I don't know what the truth is any more.
